For those of you who don't know, I have cerebral palsy. I don't mention it much because I feel it is completely irrelevant, let me tell you why:
When I first started my company and was quite frankly struggling to get new business, I used to use the excuse that it was because people were hesitant to do business with me because of my disability. This was the biggest mistake I could have made. Looking back, it wasn't my disability at all, it was that the services I were offering and the strategies I were using were horrible.
Starting a business is tough for anyone and its easy to find an excuse of why you can't do it but as I have come to find out, having a physical disability is not a viable reason. On the same token, things do not become easier either, there is no "handicapped accessible road" for building a business. We still have to put in the long hours, make sacrifices and find a way to provide value to our clients/customers.
This has been on my mind lately and wanted to post something to address it because lately I have been hearing way too many people use it as an excuse not to do anything that may require this little thing called effort.
